SUMMARY:Peter Case
DESCRIPTION:An American Classic – one of our absolute favorite artists! \n“I try to take things I love and use them in a new way\,” said triple Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Peter Case of his 16th solo album Doctor Moan. Case brings his considerable songwriting ability to an 11-song collection\, largely performed on piano\, including his first solo ecorded instrumental. Released by Sunset Blvd Records\, Case’s piano-based songs are emotionally\, sonically and stylistically rich. \nAs a founding member of of the early punk era trip The Nerves\, in 1977 Case toured the nation sharing bills with The Ramones\, Mink DeVille\, Pere Ubu\, and Devo.  The Nerves single “Hanging on the Telephone\,” was covered by Blondie. In 1979\, Case formed the Plimsouls\, a record-breaking live act in California\, recording albums for Planet/Elektra and Geffen. Th independent single\, “A Million Miles Away\,” entered the Billboard charts and remains a garage rock standard\, performed by bands around the world. The band performed in the cult classic film Valley Girl and the Nerves and Plimsouls timeless teenage rock ‘n’ roll continues to appeal fans of each new generation. \nAfter The Plimsouls\, Case rediscovered his musical roots on his self-titled solo debut\, produced by T-Bone Burnett.  The New York Times declared Peter Case the best album of 1986.  It earned a five-star Rolling Stone review and a Grammy nomination. As one of the first songwriters of his generation to turn from rock music toward an acoustic sound\, Case also helped usher in whal became known as Americana music.

DESCRIPTION:The Faux Paws have a problem. They’re a triangle band in a land of circles. Musically impossible to describe\, they don’t even fit into todays often hyphenated-genre world. No fan\, industry expert\, nor member of the band can seem to sum up this band’s sound in any kind of marketable way. They continue to remain a singularly unique outfit in the acoustic music community\, always on the fringes\, always memorable and with an increasing number of die-hard fans who feel like they’ve uncovered a secret. \nIs it bluegrass? Not usually. Old-time? Occasionally. Is it Celtic? Can’t quite say that. Is it Folk? Americana? Jazz? Singer-songwriter? None of the above\, but members of the Paws have deep ties to all of these traditions and blend their elements effortlessly to serve whatever musical idea is being presented. \nA Faux Paws live show is an explosive roller coaster ride that brings the audience along. Virtuosity on the fiddle\, mandolin\, guitar and saxophone\, sure\, but also vulnerability\, personal lyrics\, tight 3-part brother harmonies\, playful interplay\, intricately arranged details and soaring improvisations.

SUMMARY:The Silos
DESCRIPTION:The Silos began as a musical force in 1985 with the release of their first album “About Her Steps” along with a series of gigs in their hometown neighborhood\, the East Village of New York City. \nThey were part of New York’s post-punk ’80s scene and played Indie Rock\, Alt-Rock\, Alt-Country\, and Americana before any critics coined those terms. Heralded at their outset by Rolling Stone as “America’s Best New Band\,” the resilient Silos mix punk\, roots\, rock\, and sage art-damaged truth telling. Salas-Humara’s narratives take on the weight of attentive\, convincing poetry and wry wordplay. The Silos have created a sound that’s hard to pin down – “The band’s austere style inflects the astringent twang of The Velvet Underground with the drone of R.E.M. and adds countryish echoes that recall Gram Parsons\,” offered The New York Times. Their latest effort and 12th studio album “Family” was released in 2022 and work has begun on a new album to celebrate their 40th Anniversary in 2025. There will also be series of live albums released in 2025 that span the 40 years of the band on the road.

SUMMARY:Seth Walker Trio
DESCRIPTION:Seth is one of our Brewminatti faves – this will be  his SIXTH performance at Brew and we couldn’t be happier. \nSeth’s music is inspired by the places he has lived – Austin\, New Orleans\, Asheville – and it’s a cool blend of Americana\, blues\, jazz and soul.  He has toured and played with The Mavericks\, Raul Malo\, The Wood Brothers\, Paul Thorn and Ruthie Foster among many others.  He’s touring to support his new album Why TheWorry? \nThe new album finds Walker reunited with old friends and familiar names. Once again Jano Rix steps behind the boards\, co-producing the album with Seth and engineer Brook Sutton. \nIn the producer’s fifth outing he’s become an invaluable sounding board\, the kind who knows what’s missing and\, just as importantly\, what needs to be taken away.  Oliver Wood (The Wood Brothers) lends a pen to the title track\, and Seth’s classically trained father Scott adds strings to “I’m Getting Ready\,” a song penned by Walker’s contemporary Michael Kiwanuka. \nMostly\, though\, the record was shepherded into shape by Walker’s trio\, rounded out by longtime confidants Rhees Williams (Guitar\, Piano) and Mark Raudabaugh (Drums). The three let the studio guide them\, entering without agenda\, set straight by the title’s mantra to stop worrying where they’d end up. \nBut worry always tries to creep in. It’s inevitable\, isn’t it? The album was just about finished when Hurricane Helene hit Walker’s region in the mountains around Asheville\, and as a result\, the record almost didn’t see light.  As catastrophe took shape and literal bridges were broken\, the album’s importance wavered in Seth’s mind until the central theme came back into view. The worry wouldn’t undo any damage\, and there was still service in song. There’s a telling nod in the album closing with Bobby Charles’ seminal ode “I Must Be In a Good Place Now.” Why The Worry is a spiritual reset\, watching the sunrise over the mountains. It soaks in like warmth on the skin after a night of shivering in the dark. \n \n

DESCRIPTION:SUMMER CONCERT SERIES\non The Patio at WIT Cellars \n“ You should be playing stadiums!”. Ian laughs while hearing this after another blazing performance at the 2024 SXSW music festival. Is he laughing because he has played his fair share already\, from shows with some of the most\ninfluential musicians of all time\, from the Rolling Stones to Bob Dylan\, to a long line of headline festival performances\, or because he knows the folly of the music business? “I’m always aiming for the fences\,” he says\, but you can tell he’s also motivated by something deeper. \nIan is a triple threat and an artist’s artist. He came up in Austin\, mentored by the greats. Stevie Ray Vaughan famously gave him his first guitar\, and you can hear the lineage in his fingers\, but then you hear that voice…” I was obsessed with the soul singers as a kid\,” he says\, and you can hear those influences in his silky falsetto and his soulful phrasing. Spin magazine described him as a cross between Aaron Neville and Jimi Hendrix\, and that duality sets him apart from so many other guitarists.
