DownBeat calls his songwriting skills “an impressive gift.” Billboard says Salgado’s music is “inspired and powerful.”  Now\, Salgado is back with Fine By Me\, the latest evidence of Salgado wielding his impressive songwriting and vocal skills to a wide variety of styles. His music has dashes of blues\, gospel\, R&B\, jazz\, funk\, rock ’n’ roll and soul at any given moment. \nBy his early 20s he was already making a name for himself in Eugene’s bar scene\, first as the vocalist/harmonica player of The Nighthawks\, and later as co-leader of The Robert Cray Band. Salgado quickly developed into a player and singer of remarkable depth\, with vocal and musical influences including Otis Redding\, O.V. Wright\, Muddy Waters\, Little Walter\, Sonny Boy Williamson I and II\, Lightnin’ Hopkins and Howlin’ Wolf. \nIn 1977\, comedian/actor John Belushi was in Eugene filming Animal House. During downtime from production\, Belushi caught a typically ferocious Salgado performance and introduced himself during a break. Once Salgado started sharing some of his blues knowledge\, a fast friendship grew. Salgado spent hours playing old records for Belushi\, teaching him about blues and R&B. Belushi soaked up the music like a sponge and used his new awareness to portray “Joliet” Jake Blues in The Blues Brothers\, first as a skit on Saturday Night Live\, then a best-selling record album (which was dedicated to Curtis) and finally as a major motion picture (Cab Calloway’s character in the film was named Curtis as an homage).

DESCRIPTION:A SINGER-SONGWRITER SHOWCASE ! \nKevn Kinney\nis the lead singer / songwriter of the Atlanta rock band\, Drivin N Cryin\, who recently celebrated the release of their 9th studio album\, ‘Live the Love Beautiful’\, on Drivin N Cryin Records. Since the band’s 1985 inception\, he’s released some spare acoustic records on his own\, often collaborating with R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck. \nMacDougal Blues\, released on Island Records in 1990\, announced the rocker’s arrival on the folk scene\, with the engaging title cut and nine more acoustic tracks\, produced by Buck\, and mostly played by his bandmates from Drivin N Cryin. \nThough often cited as a working-class lyricist\, Kinney cannot easily be thrown into the same bag as Springsteen\, Mellencamp\, or Dave Alvin. Instead\, his is a unique spin on class\, not urban yet not completely rural. \nKinney still continues to tour as a solo artist in-between dates with Drivin N Cryin\, and is known to help host the annual Christmas Jam in Asheville with Warren Haynes. Darius Rucker cut Kinney’s song\, Straight To Hell\, on his album When Was The Last Time. The Drivin N Cryin song was a major hit on their album\, Mystery Road\, originally released in 1989. \nBobby Bare Jr\nYes – he is the son of Bobby Bare\, but his own body of work is impressive.  In 1974 – Bobby Jr and his daddy were both nominated for a Grammy for the song “Daddy What If”\, written by Shel Silverstein.  At 30 – he led the roots-rock outfit Bare Jr and released several critically acclaimed albums. \nHis next band was the Young Criminals Starvation League – which included members from And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and My Morning Jacket.  He’s had a number of solo albums\, and over the last several years he has performed\, recorded and toured with Guide by Voices. \nThis show will be special.

It’s culture that drives his passion\, and as they say\, there is no place like home.  Tyron\, a Houma native\, has a passion for the Cajun culture that has delved into his music\, “There are so many great musicians from our area and I think we take that for granted because we grow up with it\,” he said. “It goes all the way back to my grandpa’s house. He was an unbelievable harmonica and fiddle player…music was born with us.” Other than the folk influence from his grandfather\, his family frequently listened to Classic Rock\, which the fusion is evident in Tyron’s music today. Genre isn’t the only diverse aspect of Tryon’s music. Although his love is playing guitar\, he also plays the keyboard and accordion. DESCRIPTION:2024 Summer Concert Series – The PATIO @ WIT Cellars!\nThis show is a collaboration between Brewminatti & WIT Cellars\n\nNOTE:  Due to the forecasted temperature of high 90’s for Thursday\, we are moving this show to The Patio at WIT Cellars to take advantage of the shade.  You will still need to bring your own chairs\,blankets\, etc.\, but we should be in shade by showtime.  Big Wheezy’s BBQ will be on hand\, along with great wine and beer! \nIf you’ve ever seen Ian and his blues-rock band live – you probably still remember it fondly and maybe even talk about it periodically.  It’s always an incredible show put on by a collection of amazing musicians.   It oozes soul and virtuosity.  A child prodigy on classical violin\, Ian slashed all the tendons in his right hand in a bizarre accident… which ultimately led him to guitar. American Songwriter writes “if you want to be blown away by raw talent\, look no further than Griffin House.” His latest release “The Tides” is a five song EP recorded with Grammy Award-winning producer Jacquire King and is set for release on Aug 29\, 2023.
