SUMMARY:A.J. Fullerton
DESCRIPTION:It’s possible you may not have heard of A.J. Fullerton.  We aim to remedy that..and for good reason.  In 2021\, Blues Muse Magazine included him on a list of “75 Modern Blues & Rock Artists You Must Hear.”  Also on the list…Joe Bonamassa\, Kenny Wayne Shepherd\, Curtis Salgado\, Sonny Landreth…I mean…it just goes on and on.  His mostly acoustic playing has caused him to be mentioned in the same category as Ry Cooder.  He’s made a big name for himself in his home state of Colorado – where the Colorado Blues Society has recognized him for: \n– Young Performer (2016)\n  – Best Guitarist (2017) (2021)\n– Best Solo/Duo ( 2016\, 2017\, 2018\, 2019\, 2021)\n– Best Band (2017\, 2021)\n– Best Male Vocals (2017\, 2021)\n– Best Slide Guitar (2016 2017\, 2018\, 2019)\n– Best Songwriter (2017\, 2021)\n– Best Acoustic Act  (2017\, 2018\, 2021)\n– Best Local Recording  [“Kalamath”] (2017)\n– Best Local Recording [“Forgiver & The Runway”] (2021) \nHe’s expanding his footprint and we’re excited to have him play for us in Prosser.

SUMMARY:The Barefoot Movement
DESCRIPTION:The Barefoot Movement integrate bluegrass\, blues\, folk\, rock\, country and pop into music that’s delightfully fresh. Shows feature original songs and reimagined cover tunes with tight three-part harmonies and hot instrumentals. \n“They perform barefoot\, yes\, but what you’ll remember is how the music moved you. Lead singer Noah Wall’s voice can blast you backward as well as pull you in\, and the rest of the band has the harmonies and instrumental chops to support that ride.” — News & Observer \nThey’ve been with us twice before – but always a treat to have them back!

SUMMARY:Smokey Brights
DESCRIPTION:Smokey Brights is a story of love and pizza. Husband and wife duo Ryan Devlin and Kim West first met slinging pies at a south Seattle restaurant in their early 20s. Devlin\, a fixture in the Northwest’s DIY rock scene\, and West\, an aspiring law student\, started writing and recording songs in Devlin’s bedroom during a cash-strapped Christmas as their friendship blossomed into romance. Pulling from their mutual love of 70s rock\, vintage synthesizers\, thrift store treasures\, and early MYV\, the pair’s bond permeated their songcraft. \nThe duo\, joined by drummer Nick Krivchenia and bassist Luke Ragnar\, create a stoney blend of Northwest rock & roll and razor-sharp disco grooves that Impose Magazine calls “a modern bit of AM radio gold.” \n“SMOKEY BRIGHTS ARE THE BEST BAND IN SEATTLE RIGHT NOW.”\nSTEVEN GRAHAM\, 107.7 THE END

SUMMARY:Peter Case
DESCRIPTION:“I try to take things I love and use them in a new way\,” said triple Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Peter Case of his 16th solo album Doctor Moan. Case brings his considerable songwriting ability to an 11-song collection\, largely performed on piano\, including his first solo recorded instrumental. Released by Sunset Blvd Records on March 31\, Case’s piano-based songs are emotionally\, sonically and stylistically rich. As a founding member of the early punk era trio The Nerves\, in 1977 Case toured the nation sharing bills with the Ramones\, Mink DeVille\, Pere Ubu\, and Devo. The Nerves single “Hanging on the Telephone\,” was covered by Blondie. In 1979\, Case formed the Plimsouls\, a record-breaking live act in California\, recording albums for Planet/Elektra and Geffen. Their independent single\, “A Million Miles Away\,” entered the Billboard charts and remains a garage rock standard\, performed by bands around the world. The band performed in the cult classic film Valley Girl and the Nerves and Plimsouls timeless teenage rock ‘n’ roll continues to appeal to fans of each new generation. After the Plimsouls\, Case rediscovered his musical roots on his self-titled solo debut\, produced by T Bone Burnett. The New York Times declared Peter Case the best album of 1986. It earned a five-star Rolling Stone review and a Grammy nomination. As one of the first songwriters of his generation to turn from rock music toward an acoustic sound\, Case also helped usher in what became known as Americana music.

SUMMARY:Tyron Benoit Band
DESCRIPTION:Tyron Benoit hails from Houma Louisiana\, where music and culture are plentiful.  His set list includes zydeco\, country\, new wave\, rock and whatever else he wants too play.  And it’s all good. \n“Growing up\, around the house\, I remember hearing a lot of classic country: George Jones\, Hank Williams (Sr. and Jr.)\, Merle Haggard\, Waylon Jennings\, and Ernest Tubb. Going to my grandpa’s house is where I think the Cajun and Folk influences came from. He was a fantastic fiddle and harmonica player. But when we left the house\, it was Led Zeppelin\, Toto\, and Steely Dan. Everybody was into classic rock and it was good!” \nA former Marine\, actor\, guitarist\, keyboardist\, accordion player\, singer\, and songwriter— Tyron released his debut album\, “Waitin’ On Friday\,”  on May 27\, 2022. The album was produced by Grammy-nominated\, Oscar-winner Donald Markowitz\,  and features guitarist Shane Theriot (Hall and Oates\, Neville Brothers\, Willie Nelson)\, drummer Doug Belote (Zachary Richard\, Maria Muldaur\, Jerry Douglas)  \, keyboardist David Torkanowsky (Rickie Lee Jones\, Sonny Landreth\, Bobby Rush)\, and bassist Kevin Scott (Bernard Purdie\, Eddie Roberts\, Nate Wood). \nWe’re doing this show on the patio at WIT Cellars – ’cause it’s just too hard to sit still while Tyron’s playing.  We will ALSO be featuring “special New Orleans-style dishes” prepared by Chef John Gray and the staff from The Prosser House.  (ticket choices include both a dinner or no dinner option)

SUMMARY:Rachel Baiman
DESCRIPTION:Rachel’s last show at Brewminatti (3/22)\, was one of our favorite shows of the year.  She’s touring to promote her latest release – Common Nation of Sorrow. \nIn contrast with her previous work\, Baiman is the sole producer of Common Nation of Sorrow\, which she recorded in her hometown of Nashville. She leans heavily into her bluegrass and old-time sensibilities on this new record. “In some ways\, this is a homecoming project for me”\, she says. “I wanted to explore these songs based on who and where I am right now\, with the town and the people who have raised me musically using the music from the place I’m singing about ”. \nRaised in Chicago\, Baiman made her way to Nashville at 18 with the dream of being a professional fiddle player and has since released two solo records and an EP\, alongside session and side-person work with Kacey Musgraves\, Kevin Morby\, and Molly Tuttle among many others.

SUMMARY:Terry Robb Trio
DESCRIPTION:What can we say about Terry.  He’s almost our artist-in-residence\, having played for us numerous times before.  But it never gets old.  Living Blues Magazine says Terry is “one of our finest acoustic guitarists today.”  Of course they’re right.  Blues Blast Magazine says Terry is “top of the heap of acoustic and electric pickets globally.  He is a force to be reckoned with.  Yep. \nBut this time – Terry is bringing s couple of sidekicks to lay down some sweet rhythmic background\, freeing him to explore and play around the fretboard even more.  And we can not wait. \n

SUMMARY:Luke Bulla
DESCRIPTION:Luke may be best known as the fiddle-shredding sidekick in Lyle Lovett’s Large Band.  But before that\, he was a six-time National Fiddle Champ at various age levels\, before becoming Grand Champ at age 16.  After moving to Nashville\, he spent time in Ricky Skagg’s Kentucky Thunder band\, which earned him his first Grammy.  He has played or recorded with a veritable Who’s Who of musicians – including Brandi Carlile\, Jim Lauderdale\, Darrell Scott\, Alison Krauss\, Jerry Douglas\, Sam Bush\, Edgar Meyer\, Bela Fleck\, Bryan Sutton\, Kevin Costner & Modern West\, Russ Barenberg Trio\, Shawn Colvin\, Tony Rice\, Chris Thile\, Peter Rowan\, Patty Griffin\, Glen Phillips\, Rodney Crowell\, and Earl Scruggs and Mark O’Connor. \nWe could go on…and on…but we don’t want to embarrass him before he even gets here.  Needless to say\, this solo show is one not to be missed.

SUMMARY:Ben Rice Band
DESCRIPTION:Ben Rice’s original music blends Soul\, Delta-Blues\, Rockabilly\, Jazz\, and Funk into a Roots Stew. Influenced heavily by his parents record collection\, from Al Green to Alice Cooper\, Teddy Pendergrass to Marshall Tucker. \nAs a performer Ben looks to the greats for inspiration and is always striving to connect with the audience through his music and stories. He also has an interesting arsenal of guitars playing resophonic guitars and homemade cigar box guitars. More important than the visual appeal Ben has an amazing way of making these guitars sound\, often bringing audiences to tears with his slide playing.

SUMMARY:We're Not Lost: The Last Ride of The Show Ponies (a documentary)
DESCRIPTION:This will be a special\, unique evening.  We hosted The Show Ponies four times over 3 years\, plus a few solo appearances by members of the band.  They were crowd favorites from the beginning.  And\, as all good things must come to an end\, so did the band.  This film was recorded throughout their last tour together and features some live footage\, as well as some behind the scenes moments. \nIn addition\, Clay Chaney (lead vocal and bass guitar) and Phillip Glenn (fiddler-playing madman) will be on hand\, performing some of their own music and hanging with the crowd. \nWe loved the band as much as everyone else\, so we’re pretty excited to be included in this short run of screenings.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Carl Tosten
DESCRIPTION:In the world of guitar players there’s only one Carl Tosten. His playing and approach are truly unique and forward thinking. Carl makes the guitar a complete instrument; no part goes unused. His vocal style is the icing on the cake.  —Mark Morse\, “Rockslide”\n\nCarl is a musical giant.  —Tom Alexander\, Booking Agent\, Tacoma Dome \nIf you’ve seen Carl play – you know the above quotes ring true. He has a passion for guitars that began when his father bought him his first guitar at age 11. From his early years in a small town in Eastern Washington\, his playing centered around the electric guitar\, performing with various groups and diverse styles ranging from country to rock to jazz. In the mid 1990’s\, after years of eclectic listening and playing\, he began to focus fully on the acoustic guitar\, creating masterful acoustic fingerstyle compositions which combine alternate tunings\, multiple capos\, percussive body slaps and right-hand tapping. Known for his expressive and energetic guitar style\, Tosten has been described as an “Acoustic One-Man Band.” \nCarl has played with and or shared the stage with\, Brent Mason\, Stanley Jordan\, Tuck & Patti\, Lila Downs\, Lee Ritenour\, Seymour Duncan\, Stu Hamm\, James Burton\, Mike Stern\, Rick Vito\, Muriel Anderson\, Nokie Edwards\, Frank Vignola\, Carl Verheyen\, The California Guitar Trio\, Daryl Steurmer and Doyle Dykes. \nYou can watch part of this show form just a few years back…

SUMMARY:Cory Branan
DESCRIPTION:The music of Cory Branan is like a magazine anthology that rivets you; you’re always thrilled to get to the next story because it will be different\, unexpected\, and galvanic. “Why limit myself to a certain genre? My style is limited by liking to tell stories. But whatever the song wants to wear is fine with me. Over the years\, if I had done one thing\, I’d have more than a modest career now. But if I had to stand there and play acoustic singer songwriter music all the time\, I’d be bored out of my mind. I love all these different styles and sounds\, I’m restless like that.” \n“…a career stacked with lonesome country anthems to life on the road\, delivered in a voice that’s pleasantly weathered.” – NPR \nBranan’s songs have been covered by such artists as Frank Turner and Dashboard Confessional. He has also collaborated with the likes of Jason Isbell\, Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!)\, and Craig Finn (The Hold Steady)who have been included as featured guests on previous records. Branan has even been mentioned in the Lucero song\, “Tears Don’t Matter Much” with the lyrics\, “Cory Branan’s got an evil streak\, and a way with words that’ll bring you to your knees.” \n“It’s rad”\, says Branan\, “to have a new home with nice folks at Blue Èlan who’ve threatened to turn me loose to make my kind of weird American music\, and I’m really looking forward to getting into the studio this fall and giving it hell.”

SUMMARY:Sway Wild
DESCRIPTION:It is ALWAYS a treat to host Sway Wild – melodic\, dynamic\, artistic\, and just plain enjoyable… \nSan Juan Island\, WA-based indie folk-rock duo Mandy Fer and Dave McGraw are back at it with a new sound\, and a new name: Sway Wild! Their exceptional vocal harmonies\, coupled with Fer’s pioneering electric guitar work\, have become a vehicle to carry them around the world\, sharing stages with the likes of Iron & Wine\, Lake Street Dive\, Gregory Alan Isakov\, and Watchhouse. Sway Wild’s infectious sound explores the corners of rock\, pop\, funk\, prog\, worldbeat\, and folk\, but at its nucleus it is undeniably a music full of joy. It can squeeze the heart in your chest\, it can draw tears from your eyes\, and it can force you to get up and move your body; over and over\, it somehow manages to do all three at once. Mandy Fer also tours as the lead guitarist for Grammy nominated Allison Russell and recently performed with Brandi Carlile and Jason Isbell. \n \n

SUMMARY:The Lucky Losers
DESCRIPTION:Nominated for ROAD WARRIOR in 2022 & winners of FIVE Independent Blues Awards in 2021 (including “Artist of the Year” – Cathy Lemons\, “Song of the Year” Godless Land“)\, The Lucky Losers are San Francisco’s finest male/female duet fronted 5-piece band — a throwback to the hybrid of soul\, blues\, rock\, gospel\, and country that emerged in the late 1960’s with impassioned vocal performances\, electrifying musical interplay\, and powerful harmonica. \nDescribed as “the finest light-skinned female blues vocalist in the U.S” [Real Blues – 2010]\, fiery Dallas-born entertainer Cathy Lemons has a velvet voice with a gritty edge and the rebel conviction of a woman risen from the ashes. New Jersey native Phil Berkowitz “has earned renown as one of the West Coast’s most distinctive harp players\, as well as for his sharp\, resonant tenor” [Living Blues – 2018]. The stark contrast between incandescent Lemons and elegant Berkowitz makes for a captivating musical union\, breathing new life into American songwriting tradition and the vanishing art of duet singing.

SUMMARY:Stephanie Schneiderman
DESCRIPTION:Trying to pin down Stephanie Schneiderman to any one genre\, talent or discipline is next to impossible. One thing is clear – whether pursuing her prolific work as a solo artist\, playing drums for all star roots pop act Swan Sovereign (Dirty Martini)\, producing\, acting\, or giving back\, Schneiderman is hands down one of the most diverse and hardest working female singer-songwriters the Pacific Northwest has to offer. \nBlending elements of folk\, indie pop music\, Americana and electronic music\, her songwriting is often compared to artists like Imogen Heap\, Regina Spektor and Jem. As a singer-songwriter\, her solo career began with a coveted spot in the Lilith Fair. From there\, she went on to receive extensive NW radio play\, tour internationally\, and earn music placements in numerous films and primetime TV shows\, including Felicity\, the Vampire Diaries Soundtrack and many more. She has played with some of the nation’s top touring acts- from Aimee Mann to Hall & Oates\, Heart\, and Train- and enjoyed ongoing success with popular NW all-female groups Dirty Martini and Swan Sovereign.

SUMMARY:Jake Blount
DESCRIPTION:A powerfully gifted musician and a scholar of Black American music\, Jake Blount speaks ardently about the African roots of the banjo and the subtle\, yet profound ways African Americans have shaped and defined the amorphous categories of roots music and Americana. His 2020 album Spider Tales (named one of the year’s best albums by NPR and The New Yorker\, earned a perfect 5-star review from The Guardian) highlighted the Black and Indigenous histories of popular American folk tunes\, as well as revived songs unjustly forgotten in the whitewashing of the canon. Jake Blount’s new album\, The New Faith\, is a towering achievement of dystopian Afrofuturism and his first album for Smithsonian Folkways (coming September 23\, 2022). The New Faith is spiritual music\, filled with hope for salvation and righteous anger in equal measure. The album manifests our worst fears on the shores of an island in Maine\, where Blount enacts an imagined religious ceremony performed by Black refugees after the collapse of global civilization due to catastrophic climate change. Jake Blount’s music is rooted in care and confrontation. On stage\, each song he and his band play is chosen for a reason – because it highlights important elements about the stories we tell ourselves of our shared history and our endlessly complicated present moment. The more we learn about where we’ve been\, the better equipped we are to face the future.

As a composer he has created music for stage\, screen\, and virtual reality apps earning an Emmy Award for his 2018 score for Base Ballet. SUMMARY:Laurie Lewis & The Right Hands (CANCELLED)
DESCRIPTION:To ask how Laurie Lewis’s music is relevant in this day and age\, in the broader folk\, Americana\, and bluegrass scenes as a whole\, would be similar to asking how a brick in a home’s foundation is relevant to its structure. Her influence\, her reach and her artistic intent are quiet stalwarts on which so much has been built. \nJustin Hiltner\, Bluegrass Situation \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor nearly four decades\, Laurie Lewis has gathered fans and honors for her powerful and emotive voice and her versatile\, dynamic songwriting. She is a sought-after recording producer and an equally skilled teacher and mentor. \n\n\nAnd she is an inspiration and a ground-breaker – across genres\, across geography and across gender barriers.

SUMMARY:Fellow Pynins
DESCRIPTION:Fellow Pynins is a Portland\, Oregon based award winning contemporary folk duo with a keen and bucolic sense of vocal harmony and song craft anchored in the balladry tradition. The duo consists of Dani Aubert (claw-hammer banjo\, bouzouki) and solo artist Ian George (guitar\, mandolin).  They are songwriters\, collectors\, and interpreters. Since 2016 the duo has toured the US incessantly and has gathered significant traction in the UK/Ireland\, gracing festivals such as Cambridge Folk Festival\, Wilderness Festival\, Omagh Bluegrass Festival\, and selling out legs of their most recent UK/Ireland tour.  In 2019 they were named by NPR’s Bob Boilen as one of the best Tiny Desk submissions and the same year won the Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time duet competition.  In 2020/2021 the duo relocated from Minneapolis\, MN back to Oregon to build (learning every step of the way) two tiny houses on wheels for their family\, which they now live in.\n“Fellow Pynins will transport you into their haunting and beguiling world of love tales and spine-tingling harmonies… They’ll have you traveling far and wide to hear them again.” – Lisa Dunn (BBC)  \n“Fascinating stuff!”-Frank Hennessy\, BBC Radio Wales \n\n“Spellbinding”-Country Music People
