SUMMARY:The Silos
DESCRIPTION:The Silos began as a musical force in 1985 with the release of their first album “About Her Steps” along with a series of gigs in their hometown neighborhood\, the East Village of New York City. \nThey were part of New York’s post-punk ’80s scene and played Indie Rock\, Alt-Rock\, Alt-Country\, and Americana before any critics coined those terms. Heralded at their outset by Rolling Stone as “America’s Best New Band\,” the resilient Silos mix punk\, roots\, rock\, and sage art-damaged truth telling. Salas-Humara’s narratives take on the weight of attentive\, convincing poetry and wry wordplay. The Silos have created a sound that’s hard to pin down – “The band’s austere style inflects the astringent twang of The Velvet Underground with the drone of R.E.M. and adds countryish echoes that recall Gram Parsons\,” offered The New York Times. Their latest effort and 12th studio album “Family” was released in 2022 and work has begun on a new album to celebrate their 40th Anniversary in 2025. There will also be series of live albums released in 2025 that span the 40 years of the band on the road.

SUMMARY:Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys
DESCRIPTION:We LOVELOVELOVE Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys. \nSince forming in 1988 in Southern California\, Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys have become one of the world’s most beloved Americana/Roots acts\, drawing from the deep musical waters that flow just beneath the surface of Rock & Roll’s fertile soil. A childhood passion for Country\, Doo-Wop\, and Rhythm & Blues 45s led Sandy (born Robert Williams) to pursue a singing career as a teenager\, beginning a life in music that continues decades later. And as his personal record collection continues to grow (75\,000 and counting)\, so does the depth of the musical influences that stream through his songwriting and singing style A critically acclaimed tribute to Tex-Mex hero Freddy Fender\, released at the beginning of the 2020 lockdown\, points the way forward for Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys as they continue on a path of musical growth. After nearly 35 years on the road\, and more than two dozen releases to their credit\, they remain key figures on the ever-changing Americana circuit\, both on record and in live appearances.

SUMMARY:Seth Walker Trio
DESCRIPTION:Seth is one of our Brewminatti faves – this will be  his SIXTH performance at Brew and we couldn’t be happier. \nSeth’s music is inspired by the places he has lived – Austin\, New Orleans\, Asheville – and it’s a cool blend of Americana\, blues\, jazz and soul.  He has toured and played with The Mavericks\, Raul Malo\, The Wood Brothers\, Paul Thorn and Ruthie Foster among many others.  He’s touring to support his new album Why TheWorry? \nThe new album finds Walker reunited with old friends and familiar names. Once again Jano Rix steps behind the boards\, co-producing the album with Seth and engineer Brook Sutton. \nIn the producer’s fifth outing he’s become an invaluable sounding board\, the kind who knows what’s missing and\, just as importantly\, what needs to be taken away.  Oliver Wood (The Wood Brothers) lends a pen to the title track\, and Seth’s classically trained father Scott adds strings to “I’m Getting Ready\,” a song penned by Walker’s contemporary Michael Kiwanuka. \nMostly\, though\, the record was shepherded into shape by Walker’s trio\, rounded out by longtime confidants Rhees Williams (Guitar\, Piano) and Mark Raudabaugh (Drums). The three let the studio guide them\, entering without agenda\, set straight by the title’s mantra to stop worrying where they’d end up. \nBut worry always tries to creep in. It’s inevitable\, isn’t it? The album was just about finished when Hurricane Helene hit Walker’s region in the mountains around Asheville\, and as a result\, the record almost didn’t see light.  As catastrophe took shape and literal bridges were broken\, the album’s importance wavered in Seth’s mind until the central theme came back into view. The worry wouldn’t undo any damage\, and there was still service in song. There’s a telling nod in the album closing with Bobby Charles’ seminal ode “I Must Be In a Good Place Now.” Why The Worry is a spiritual reset\, watching the sunrise over the mountains. It soaks in like warmth on the skin after a night of shivering in the dark. \n \n

SUMMARY:Never Come Down
DESCRIPTION:We dig these cats and are thrilled to have them back! \nFormed in 2017\, Never Come Down was born from the vibrant if not occasionally overlooked music scene of Portland\, Oregon. Much like the city that inspired them\, they’re a smart\, charming\, off-beat amalgam of varied backgrounds and tastes. In today’s paradoxical world where honoring tradition is often pitted against exploration and innovation\, the band confidently walks the line between the modern and the tried-and-true. They’ve gained a loyal following and continue to win over audiences everywhere from Reykjavik’s Iceland Airwaves to San Francisco’s acclaimed Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. They’ve gained the attention of industry veterans\, and toured in support of notable acts such as Yonder Mountain String Band and The Travelin’ McCourys\, among others. Never Come Down’s live performance never disappoints- with showmanship\, originality\, songwriting and musical prowess far beyond their years.

SUMMARY:Ben Rice & The PCX Hustle
DESCRIPTION:““One of the exceptionally talented members of a new generation of blues artists…” ”\nMark Thomas – Blues Blast Magazine \nBen Rice might be described as quiet and unassuming—until he picks up a guitar. A three-time Blues Music Award nominee\, Rice has built a reputation as one of the most expressive and versatile artists in today’s roots and blues scene. While he began in traditional blues\, over the years he’s expanded his sound with soul\, R&B\, folk\, and country\, creating a welcoming front-porch atmosphere where every listener feels at home. \nIn 2023\, Ben Rice unveiled a bold new chapter with his horn-driven ensemble\, Ben Rice & The PDX Hustle. With its blend of horns\, vocal harmonies\, piano\, and organ\, the group captures the raw energy of Rice’s live show and delivers it with a groove that has been igniting audiences across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. \nWith his new album Fallen Angel (2025)\, Rice showcases not only his fearless guitar work and emotive voice but also his evolution as a songwriter and bandleader. The record is both a tribute to his late drummer Chandler Bowerman and a testament to resilience\, creativity\, and the deep joy of making music.

SUMMARY:Chris Pierce
DESCRIPTION: Chris Pierce has been a singular voice in American roots music for more than two decades. Over the course of eight solo albums\, many side projects\, and more guest appearances than most could do in one lifetime\, his powerful songs have given voice to the voiceless and shed light into dark and hidden corners of the American dream.  \nPierce’s newest record\, Songs For The Heavy Hearted\, captures moments in the lives of everyday people as they struggle with crisis and encapsulates everything that has been so powerful about his music to date.  \nAt its core\, Songs For The Heavy Hearted is a diary of — and love letter to — freedom fighters everywhere; its constant refrain is that love\, joy\, hope\, and softness are not things we need to sacrifice to fight the good fight. In fact\, they are integral.  \nAs Pierce explains\, “Even as we refuse to take our rights for granted\, it’s getting harder to find a little bit of light to keep us going. Whatever happens\, we have to find a way to count our blessings and seek liberty for ourselves and fight for the liberty of others.”\nThese are lessons Pierce learned early on. Growing up in an interracial household when his parents’ marriage still wasn’t recognized as legal in 16 states\, he witnessed a cross burned on his front lawn as a child. “I held optimism near to my heart\, even with the stuff we went through as a family\, we never gave way to despair.”  \nWhen he was 15 and developed a rare hearing disorder called Otosclerosis that led to total hearing loss (before a surgery that regained partial hearing in one ear)\, he did not back down. “That could have been it for me\, but instead I learned resilience\,” Pierce says. “I turned a crisis into a superpower. It’s what you have to do.”  \nWith supporting performances from Allison Russell\, Steve Earle\, Grey DeLisle\, and Garrison Starr\, Songs For The Heavy Hearted embodies the belief that ‘we shall overcome’ and the sentiment has never sounded more uplifting and within reach.  \nOver decades of touring\, Pierce has performed as both a headliner and sought-after support act alongside Neil Young\, B.B. King\, Al Green\, Steve Earle\, Seal\, Aaron Neville\,  \nJill Scott\, Allison Russell\, the Blind Boys of Alabama\, and many others. Pierce has appeared on NPR’s World Cafe\, Mountain Stage\, American Folk Show and has had performances at Newport Folk Festival\, AmericanaFest\, Folk Alliance\, MerleFest\, Bottlerock\, Calgary Folk Festival\, Vancouver Folk Festival\, and more.  \n“One of America’s most talented\, gifted\, and affecting artists.” – AMERICAN SONGWRITER  \n“I haven’t been so deeply\, deeply moved by just a person and their guitar like this in a long time.” – NPR MUSIC
